Guidelines for Paper Oral Presentations
Paper oral presentations will take place over four days (Monday 3, Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 November) across nine sessions. To ensure smooth and engaging sessions for all attendees, please adhere to the following guidelines for your oral paper presentations.
The goal of your oral presentation is to clearly and concisely communicate your paper’s core findings and significance to a broad audience, followed by a period of focused discussion.
Presentation Time and Format
- Total Time: Each presentation slot is 20 minutes.
- Presentation: Your oral presentation of the paper should be limited to 15 minutes.
- Q&A: A 5-minute period for audience questions and discussion will follow your presentation. Please time your presentation carefully to ensure adequate time for Q&A.
Technical Requirements and Setup
- Slides: You are required to prepare a set of slides to accompany your presentation. You do not need to upload your slides in advance of the conference.
- A/V Equipment:
- You must use your own laptop for your presentation.
- The conference room projectors accept USB-C and HDMI inputs.
- Adapters for various laptop ports will be provided, but we still recommend you bring your own as a backup against potential compatibility issues.
- Sound/Music: It is possible to play stereo sound or music excerpts as part of your presentation. Please ensure your laptop’s audio output is working.
- Portable Appliance Testing (PAT): Please note that all equipment brought to the conference must have been PAT tested by contributors before attending, and contributors are solely responsible for this.
Pre-Presentation Check
It is mandatory to test your laptop and presentation with the room’s technical equipment prior to your session.
- When to Test: Please arrive 15 minutes before your session to conduct this check. Note: If your session immediately follows another, please be ready to set up and check your technical requirements during the brief transition period after the preceding session.
- Who to Coordinate With: You should coordinate this technical check with your Paper Session Chair.
- Note: Paper Session Chairs will be announced on the conference website closer to the event start date.
