Call for Demonstrations

CMMR 2025 welcomes the submission of demonstration papers focusing on the multidisciplinary intersection of sound, music, and computing.

Under this year’s theme, “Sound, Music: Space, Place,” we particularly encourage demonstration submissions that delve into the spatial and situated dimensions of sonic practice. Please see below for a non-exhaustive list of conference topics.

The Demo track offers an interactive session for participants to exhibit their work, products, or systems, showcasing their role in sound and music computing, artistic creation, practice, and workflows. The presenters will deliver a demonstration at their respective stands, followed by a Q&A discussion with attendees of the conference and fellow presenters. We are interested in both complete projects and works in progress.

    Presentation environment

Demonstrations will take place across a variety of spaces in UCL campuses at Here East and UCL East (Marshgate). Please state if you have any special requirements and these can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

CMMR can provide basic equipment (1 table, 2–3 chairs, at least 1 power socket, Wifi connection). If you have any specific requirement (e.g., larger space, use of devices with high power consumption, such as projectors), please contact the demo chairs, although your request may or may not be accepted (subject to discussion with the chairs and sourcing of equipment).

Accepted demo papers will be published under a Creative Commons License via a publicly available repository service. Each demo paper will be assigned a persistent DOI.

    Registration & In-Person Requirement

At least one author of each accepted paper is required to be registered for the symposium by the author registration deadline.

This year’s CMMR is an in-person conference, and all presenters are required to attend and present their work on site.

    Submission Guidelines and Queries

Please prepare and submit your paper according to the Demonstration Submission Guidelines.

For any query please contact cmmr25@ucl.ac.uk

CMMR 2025 is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming conference environment. We especially encourage submissions from individuals traditionally underrepresented in computer music,  including women, people from the Global Majority, LGBTQIA+ communities, disabled people, non-traditional scholars (such as those outside academia or from interdisciplinary fields), and individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
